The First Time

All the nightmares that were dreams
The darkness the truth brings
All the friends we always wanted
And we’re right back where we started

Do you think of where we are now?
All the struggles, we backed down
Biting teeth, held my tongue
Fought the battles you had won

And we wanted, more than anything
That one dream, to be…
The kids that never grew up
(Well guess what?)

Rose-tinted, those glasses
Looking back and the past is
So much brighter
A little better
A little lighter, than it was
The first time around

All the crying that we did
The secrets that we hid
It all starts to get hazy
Were we really that lazy?

And we wanted, more than anything
That one dream, to be…
The kids that never grew up
(Well guess what?)

Rose-tinted, those glasses
Looking back and the past is
So much brighter
A little better
A little lighter, than it was
The first time around

And do you think of who we were?
The friendships that were turned
Faded memories of all the words
Apologies we should have heard
Maybe in the end we had learned
And yet we still look back through

Rose-tinted, those glasses
Looking back and the past is
So much brighter
A little better
A little lighter, than it was
The first time around

Rose-tinted, those glasses
Looking back and the past is
So much brighter
A little better
A little lighter, than it was
The first time around

Top 5 Things You Do Not Say to Star Trek: Enterprise Fans

1. Every time I hear the name Archer I think of the secret agent on that FX show.

2. Everything about this series is dull. From the wooden characters to the boring uniforms. Only good thing I look forward to every time I watch it is the song at the beginning.

3. If T’Pol and Hoshi were a little interesting I might be convinced they serve a purpose more than simple eye-candy.

4. I think Porthos has more dimensions to his character than anyone else on this stupid show!

5. One of the worst episodes this series has ever bombarded on its viewers was In a Mirror Darkly.

inside a heart is beating determination a freestyle by kyle gerst

a big thank you to Mahala Rai Banda who wrote The Man Who Drinks. you helped me for the inspiration for this freestyle

im a go getter a trend setter you see me there is nothing better
opportunistic i get what is mine at any cost
they say life is hard when your at the top
but i say its even harder climbing the ladder
because you got to work both hard and smarter
so much competition
its like we all want the same things
money power respect hoes its all apart of the game
you know what im saying mane
just call me Morpheus
except the only difference is
im serving not the blue or red pill
just a pill
will call it a thrill
a derivative of a killer instinct
so just step on up the price is right make a deal
because behind doors 1 2 and three all there is is the definition of real you feel

Short N Sweet Review “American Sniper”

I didn’t think American Sniper earned all of those award nominations. And I’m not saying that from a political stand point either. I just feel like it was very diluted, and I didn’t connect with any of the characters. Was it a good story? Sure, but it didn’t cause me to understand a soldier’s inner struggle. I really went into it believing that he was going to have regrets for killing all of those people. And at the end of the day, we got one little chopped up scene, where he was crying to his Wife. Cooper was great at playing a very cold individual, I suppose it was just an edited mess, and that’s why I didn’t get the experience that was needed to appreciate it like so many others did. Whether he was a Hero in real life, well I don’t think that’s for me to decide. Birdman and Nightcrawler were far better, and deserved more recognition in my opinion.

Full Circle

Seems like falling down
Lost balance, hit the ground
Endless mistakes thrown in your face
It’s not right, it’s not okay
Rug swept out
All these doubts

Maybe it’s poetic
Maybe it’s pathetic
Karmic justice
Cruel Irony
Shakespearean dramedy

It’s gonna turn around
Can’t lose what you never found
No need to worry
The future is stunning
You’ll hit the ground running
It’s coming full circle now

Don’t worry about the end
Everything will break or bend
Even when it feels the good is gone
It won’t be that way for long
It all comes back around
And pieces together again

Top 5 Things You Do Not Say to Star Trek: Voyager Fans

1. Mulgrew as Janeway is so boring. They should have stuck with Bujold.

2. Seven of 9 is the epitome of pointless characters. Her personality lacks any depth at all. She is just there as eye candy to boost demographics.

3. I find it hard to believe people like this show at all. The characters, if not uninteresting, are unlikable. Chakotay is whiney, Janeway is b!tchy, 7 of 9 is useless, The Doctor is annoying, and the rest I cannot even remember their names.

4. This show lost me in the fourth season. The Borg? Really? Couldn’t they think up a better recurring villain like the Pakleds or something?

5. Year of Hell and Real Life are some of the worst episodes Voyager has ever inflicted on its viewers.
